What is the User Account Control Setting on my computer and how does this affect Telpay for Business?
The User Account Control is a technology and security feature that was introduced with Microsoft's Windows Vista.
It aims to improve the security of Microsoft Windows by limiting application software to standard user privileges until an administrator authorizes an increase or elevation. In this way, only applications trusted by the user may receive administrative privileges, and malware should be kept from compromising the operating system.
This feature has been known to prevent the install and the import of payables/payroll from Telpay for Business.
In order to disable the User Account Control feature do the following.
Click Start on your computer -> Control Panel -> Action Center. Second or Third option on the far left-hand side will be Change User Account Control Settings. In Vista this is a checkbox that you will have to un-check in order to disable. In Windows 7 & 8 it is more of a volume slider which will have to be brought all the way to the bottom.
If you have difficulty finding this, do a search for "UAC" in the control panel & click on Change User Account Control Settings. A reboot may be necessary in both cases in order to effectively disable this feature.
